YOU ARE ENOUGH - BY AUTUMN MOORE
The other day I was on Instagram, mindlessly scrolling through my feed. I ran across a picture of a fashion blogger I follow – she and her husband were on a beach somewhere, looking amazing and flawless and unbelievably happy. I proceeded to click on her profile and scroll through her feed. I saw her perfect children. Her perfect clothes. Her perfect hair. Her perfect makeup. Her perfect life. I saw thousand of likes and comments from people telling her how stunning she was and that her marriage was #goals. I found myself comparing myself and every part of my life to hers for what felt like an hour. I realized how shallow I was being and quickly turned my mind and attention to something else. How often do we do this, though? How often do we see little glimpses into someone else's life on social media or on TV and assume their lives are so much better than ours? We fall into this deep hole of comparison and convince ourselves that we're not good enough, pretty enough, skinny enough or likable enough. Well I have news for you, girlfriend – you are enough.
Psalm 139:14 says, "I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Your works are wonderful, I know that full well."
Think about this – God thought so much of you that he chose you to be born. He created the sun and the skies and every living creature on this earth, and he thought the world needed one of you, too. God crafted you to be wonderful. Someone who isn't defined by her outward beauty, but by her soul and her willingness to make a difference for His kingdom by following His will. Jesus loved you enough to die for you. To become sin on your behalf. Don't take that lightly.
You are so much more than your follower count or your Instagram feed. You are fearfully and wonderfully made by the Creator of the universe. So don't get sucked into the temptation to compare yourself to everyone else around you – God has a purpose for you that no one else can fulfill.
